At Ogden, Weber State leads this series 4-3 all-time.After dropping a hard-fought 6-0 game to FBS foe San Diego State last Saturday, the Wildcats currently find themselves ranked No. 7 in this week’s STATS FCS poll.Currently, the Wildcats’ scoring defense is ranked second in the FCS in surrendering only six points to the Mountain West Conference-affiliated Aztecs. However, they are still searching for their first points of the season.After routing San Diego 52-34 last Saturday, the Mustangs’ offense ranks ninth nationally in scoring. Their defense is currently ranked 62nd in the nation in points surrendered.Weber State junior quarterback Jake Constantine completed 21 of 31 passes (67.7 percent) for 119 yards and an interception against the Aztecs.The Wildcats’ rushing leader against San Diego State was Kris Jackson (3 car, 14 yards) and sophomore Devon Cooley (2 rec, 39 yards) was the Wildcats’ leading receiver against the Aztecs.Sophomore defensive end McKade Mitton had a sack against San Diego State to pace the Wildcats defensively.For the Mustangs, redshirt freshman quarterback Jalen Hamler was named the Big Sky’s offensive player of the week as he completed 8 of 11 passes (72.7 percent) for 221 yards and three scores in the rout of the Toreros. Hamler also ran for 96 yards and a pair of scores to further bolster the squad.Sophomore fullback Duy-Tran Sampson averaged 11.5 yards per carry against the Toreros, posting 172 yards and a pair of scores on 15 carries.Senior receiver J.J. Koski netted 5 receptions for 154 yards and two scores for the Mustangs, as the offense amassed 607 yards overall.Defensively, senior defensive back Kitu Humphrey and junior linebacker Matt Wright each posted a sack for Cal Poly and junior linebacker Matt Shotwell, junior defensive back Bradley Mickey and junior defensive back Kevin Howell all posted interceptions for the Mustangs.
