UNWTO RELEASES NEW HEALTH TOURISM REPORT Survey of Attitudes and Consumption of Users of Health Tourism Services in Croatia (one of the surveys from the ‘family’ of the TOMAS survey), which was conducted in 2018 for the first time by the Institute for Tourism as a pilot survey. Because health tourism is much more than just a health service. Of course, health service is the main skeleton, but it must be a complete tourist product. What is the state of health tourism in Croatia? What are the opportunities and challenges? Source: Institute of Tourism Average daily consumption of multi – day visitors in wellness segment is 149 € (82 € for accommodation, 11 € for health services), lbarley segment € 63 (€ 34 for accommodation, € 16 for health services) and medical segment at € 292 (€ 31 for accommodation, € 221 for health services). Wellness guests are, according to the monthly income of the household, the best paying power, followed by users of medical and health services, and about half of users of wellness and medical services and about two-thirds of users of health services go on one to three health-motivated trips a year; at the same time, about a third of guests have not used this type of service so far. According to the research, users of wellness and medical services are mostly foreigners (82% and 73%) and come from nearby traditional emitting tourist markets, while users of health services are mostly domestic guests (67%). The survey covered all three segments of health tourism, wellness, spa and medical, and the survey was conducted on a sample of 2.540 respondents (1.331 users of wellness services, 793 users of spa services, 416 users of medical services) and 43 facilities / centers of health tourism in Croatia 28 hotel facilities with wellness offer, 10 spas and special hospitals, 5 polyclinics / clinics with medical services).

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday emphasised the need for preservation of water resources on the occasion of World Water Monitoring Day.Banerjee, in a post on Twitter, said that a number of ponds were either created or renovated over the last seven years under the state-run ‘Jal Dharo-Jal Bharo’ scheme.”Today is World Water Monitoring Day. This year’s theme is ‘Nature for Water’.”Our govt launched the ‘Jal Dharo-Jal Bharo’ scheme in 2011 with the objective of conserving precious water resources.”2,33,158 ponds have been created/renovated in seven years under this scheme,” she said.The scheme was launched in 2011-12 with an aim to preserve water resources by harvesting rain water, as well as arresting run-off of surface water through construction and management of minor irrigation structures.
